Legacy
Every year my GT class creates what they call their legacy videos. Of course they have much to say about legacy, what it is and what it shouldn’t be, but what I find interesting is their reactions to what each other have to say. They will pester me about doing the videos until I remember to bring the equipment, and then worry incessantly when I tell them they are all required to say something.
All of the sudden, no one wants to speak...until, one of them steps up. Then they fight to be next. Is this a byproduct of the way gifted students are used to connecting with others? They crave a platform for their voice. A means of either expressing frustration or elation, yet they are nervous. They are nervous about putting their thoughts on show. What if they give their best and no one gets it...still.
Just one brave soul. Just one person that willing to speak up. One person with which to identify. One person to get the ball rolling.
It is a beautiful thing to know that you are not alone.
Don’t be afraid to speak up.
Your voice has value.
