Being GT is like...

Being GT in a regular Ed classroom often feels like sitting in a corvette on the freeway, stuck in gridlock traffic. Been there done that--I finally convinced my friend Joe to let me take his shiny new corvette out for a spin, and there I was on the interstate putting along at 20mph. Wish I had the freedom to gun it at least once, I wanted to know what it was like to fly...but I digress.
Imagine you were born to a family of race car drivers. Everyone races, and you are racing around the track and winning events at a very young age. One day you join up with a group of other youngsters to go "race". Everyone pays their fee and you all get into your own little governed car, at the flag drop you are off! What happens? Try as you might, you floor the pedal--nothing much. Just doing laps.
How frustrating is it that you can't use the talent you know you have to excel? You would so win this if they would only let you. Maybe in your initial frustration you quit. Everyone knows that it isn't for real anyway, so why bother? Maybe you go through the motions, but your heart is no longer in it. We just want you to be safe, they say. We want everyone to have a chance.
How does this make you feel? Are you elitist? Do you think you are a “better” racer? You probably are.
