Makerspaces!
WHAT is a Makerspace? I am envisioning collaboration, playful learning, creative problem solving, persons working together to contribute something bigger than themselves. Doing some more research, and I may just have to attend the MakerFaire in Austin on May 16th and 17th; but from what I gather, a Maker is one who Makes--anything. The Makerspace is the place where persons who like to Make come together to support one another and Make. I am loving the motto of the Maker I have found, and I am wondering...how can we transform our classrooms into something like this? Something fun? Cross-curricular, hands on learning. There are also online Makerspace communities that help with resources, connections, and how-to. Oh, yeah...they have a magazine too! #UltimateEducationReform?
