What mindset are you? What mindset do you seek?
In her book Mindset, Carol S. Dweck writes about recognizing your mindset, and how to cultivate the growth mindset. The book is a culmination of years of her research. She identifies two basic mindsets that people have: fixed, and growth. Where as the fixed mindset may feel safe and seeks an immediate acknowledgement, the growth mindset embraces change, failure, and criticism as a platform for growth.
Needless to say, we aren't really learning unless we are operating in the growth mindset. We may be able to repeat information or complete tasks, but are we really learning? Are we making connections and finding commonalities? A growth mindset takes us back to learning as we originally knew it--before it was obligatory. Learning should be exciting, and discouraging, but then rewarding. It should hurt a bit as we stretch and grow.
Great read! Does not bog down under terminology and has great pratical application.
